Governor Newsom's Housing Initiatives:

In September 2024, Governor Newsom signed a bipartisan housing package that builds upon California's existing strategies to combat homelessness and housing shortages. This comprehensive plan includes the launch of Prop 1 Homekey+, offering permanent supportive housing solutions for veterans and those in need across various communities.

As of September 2024, the Kern County community of McFarland celebrated the opening of Sherwood Family Apartments. This new housing development provides 80 affordable homes specifically for low-income and extremely low-income families.
